FEI Jumping World Cup Final Round 1

Great Britain is in the running with three riders in the top 14 of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ben Maher is best of the British after round one over Frank Rothenberger’s 1.60m Table C Speed track, lying sixth with Dallas Vegas Batilly, six points behind the leader, Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann on King Edward (35 points).

Thirty-four riders came forward over 13 fences, Ben dropping from second to sixth by adding three seconds to his time when a risky turn to the penultimate fence didn’t come off. Scott Brash jumped an easy clear to finish 11th on Hello Valentino (24 points) while Jessica Mendoza, riding I-Cap CL Z, also added three seconds to finish 14th (21 points).

The second leg, a 1.60m course with a jump-off, takes place on Thursday at 18:50 hrs KSA/16:50 BST. Jessica is drawn 19th, Scott goes in 22nd and Ben is 27th in the field of 32.  Good luck!
