Ffion Roberts Wins Haygain Pony Discovery Second Round Victory at Tushingham Arena
Wednesday 18 May 2016

Tushingham Arena in Whitchurch, Shropshire hosted a Haygain Pony Discovery Second Round yesterday and thirty-one competitors jumped with the aim of securing one of the ten qualification places up for grabs for the Haygain Pony Discovery Championship Final.
The Championship Final will be held during this August’s British Showjumping National Championships and competition proved fierce. Following two rounds of class, just nine competitors remained for the final jump off and with six going on to achieve treble clears, all eyes were trained on the clock which was decisive in deciding the final line up.
Ffion Roberts, aged 13, from Holywell, Flintshire posted an early clear in the jump off on board Joan Roberts’ 10 year-old chestnut gelding Kantjes Bozzy. Ffion set a quick time with her ride, crossing through the finish line in 30.25 seconds and this time was to prove unbeatable.
Second place was scooped by 13 year-old Olivia Ratcliffe from Accrington, Lancashire who rode Song of Jerricho, a 7 year-old dun gelding owned by Lisa Ratcliffe. This combination picked up their treble clear in 33.29 seconds.
Third place was taken by 15 year-old Isabelle Watson from Whitchurch, Shropshire and she took her place inside the top three on Glyceiriog Duke, an 11 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Tracy Watson. This pair also secured a treble clear and did so in 34.33 seconds.
