Lottie Tutt Takes Haygain Pony Discovery Second Round Victory at Pyecombe Horse Show
Monday 16 May 2016
Yesterday saw thirty-four keen combinations gather at the Pyecombe Horse Show in Pyecombe, West Sussex, all of whom were looking to safeguard their place in this summer’s Haygain Pony Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August. With ten qualification places up for grabs, there was a lot to play for!
The action in the first two rounds saw the competitors whittled down until just nine determined combinations were left to contest the final jump off.
Fifteen year-old Lottie Tutt from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire took victory on board Wendy Kerr’s 15 year-old bay gelding, Littlehill Merlin. The pair produced three immaculate clear rounds, the last of which was clocked up in just 36.00 seconds. This time turned out to be just too fast to beat for Lottie’s fellow competitors.
Second place was taken by 15 year-old Alexandria Hands from Wolverhampton, West Midlands and she rode Sliabh Lan John Joe, a 9 year-old grey gelding owned by Elizabeth Hands. The pressure was really on after being drawn first to go in the final jump off, but Alexandria kept her cool to deliver a third clear round in 37.34 seconds.
Third place went to 14 year-old Cery Withey from Bexley, Kent. Riding Samantha Withey’s 10 year-old black mare, Castle Dark, the pair produced their third clear in 37.79 seconds to finish just a fraction of a second behind Alexandria and Sliabh Lan John Joe.
