Madison Heath Wins HOYS 128cms Qualifier at Sparsholt College

Monday 23 May 2016

Saturday’s HOYS 128cms Qualifier at Sparsholt College saw twenty-four able combinations contest for victory but it was 11 year-old Madison Heath who took the crown.

With just three places up for grabs for the HOYS 128cms Championship Final, which will run during the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October, the final jump off kept everyone one on the edge of their seats as just three combinations were left to battle it out for the placings.

Madison, from Nantwich, Cheshire was drawn first in the final jump off with Red Alert III, a 13 year-old chestnut mare owned by Graham Heath. Madison and Red Alert III proved to be consistently fast and accurate making them a formidable pair to beat, posting the only treble clear in 37.25 seconds.

Second place was taken by 12 year-old Iwan Carpenter from Holywell, Clwyd riding John Carpenter’s 21 year-old grey mare, Brookhall Glimpse. This combination finished with four faults in 39.94 seconds.

Eleven year-old Hannah Baker from Thornton Le Beans, North Yorkshire took third place on board Ian Baker’s 18 year-old chestnut Mare Ballybur Oh Jessie. Hannah decided not to jump in the final round but she had already done enough to secure her spot in the top three after producing a double clear in 40.88 seconds.
