Angie Thompson records victory to get the Autumn Mediterranean Equestrian Tour off to a flying start

Angie Thompson got the first week of the Autumn MET I tour in Spain off to a good start with victory in the initial 2* 1.45m on Sanavisto.

Nineteen competitors came forward over the 11-fence 1.45m speed track with Angie and her home-bred pocket rocket Sanavisto flying into the top spot, the Mr Visto x N-Aldato eight-year-old mare winning by 0.31 seconds.  Graham Babes slotted the 10-year-old Monks I Am Casall (I’m Special De Muze x Casall) into second place.

Twenty-four hours later, Matt Sampson motored to the top of the 2* 1.45m speed in typical all-out, full tilt style to outpace his 61 rivals on Isabel Fox’s 11-year-old MGH Candy Girl (Sligo Candy Boy x Cruising) and record a 0.47 second win.

Lily Attwood posted a double clear in the 2* Grand Prix with Karibou Horta for third.  Nineteen of the original 55 starters jumped clear over the 13-fence 1.45m track to create a fast, hotly contended jump-off.  Lily and the Landor S x For Pleasure 14-year-old returned another clean round to take third 0.94 seconds behind the winner, Belgium’s Jerome Guery on Jyrado VH Bovenhoekshof.

Annabel Shields narrowly misses out on a win in Austria

Annabel Shields was less than half a second off a three-star victory in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, with Creevagh Carisma.

Forty-four competitors contended the 13-fence 3* 1.45m speed track designed by Andrea Colombo (ITA) with Annabel guiding the Camiro De Haar Z 14-year-old Creevagh Carisma into the runner-up spot 0.49 seconds behind the winning time.

Allana Clutterbuck is on the podium in Fontainebleau

Allana Clutterbuck claimed a podium place in the 2* 1.45m in Fontainebleau, France, with long-term campaigner Vykinbay.

Seventy-four riders jumped in this speed class, Allana and the Quartz Du Chanu x Diamant De Semilly 15-year-old finishing 2.20 seconds behind the winner, France’s Titouan Schumacher aboard Illusion.

Charlie Jones claims a podium place in Sacramento’s $100,000 Grand Prix

A winner seven days earlier, Charlie Jones had to settle for third in the $100,000 Grand Prix in Sacramento, USA, with Morning Star Sporthorses’ Capitale 6.

Thirty-one competitors came forward to face the testing 1.45m course, but only four found the key to access the jump-off.  Round two was all about the clock as all four returned clean sheets a second time, Charlie and the Cassini I x For Pleasure 13-year-old finishing four seconds behind the winning round, set by The USA’s Shawn Casady on Cool Quarz.

Ben Taylor settles for a 1.45m second place in Tryon

Ben Taylor produced the fastest time of the 2* 1.45m Speed Stake in Tryon, USA, but a lowered rail dropped Mescandro PS down to second place.

Ben and the Messenger x Dobel’s Cento 10-year-old proved seven seconds faster than the winner, Ireland’s Richie Maloney, who produced a crucial clear on Daisycutter.
