Adrian Speight scoops the win in the International Stairway at the Royal Lancashire County Show

The sixth leg of the International Stairway Series 2021 was held at the Royal Lancashire County Show on Saturday, and it was Adrian Speight from Grimsby, North Lincolnshire who clinched the win on Millfield Baloney, a 15 year-old bay gelding owned by Judith Whitham.

Over a technical track designed by Rafael Suarez, a clear round was hard to come by with just five combinations taking a clear round through to the jump off. Adrian Speight went on to become the only combination to deliver a double clear in 47.60 seconds to take first place. Timothy Davies jumped in to second place with Nielson owned by Lisa Volk and Angela Thompson finished in third place with just four faults with Eleri Perry’s Fremont VDL.

The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.

The International Stairway, supported by the British Showjumping Partnership with funding from sponsors including Charles Owen, KBIS Insurance, NAF and Zebra Products.
