Anna Power and Calgary PH Z Shine in Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Wales and West
Thursday 28 May 2026

The Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Wales and West Showground on Monday saw 56 rider combinations come forward to take on Rafael Suarez’s challenging track, all hoping to secure their place in the next stage of the championship pathway.
Suarez’s course proved a true test throughout the opening rounds, with accuracy and consistency proving key as riders aimed to deliver those all-important double clears. After two demanding rounds, only nine combinations managed to keep a clean sheet and progress through to the jump-off.
Taking top honours was Anna Power aboard her own Calgary PH Z after the pair produced a superb clear round in a speedy time of 38.22 seconds to secure victory.
Second place went to Nicholas Benterman riding Compton Park X, who also delivered an impressive clear performance in the jump-off, crossing the finish line in 42.79 seconds.
Completing the top three was Megan James with Tick a Hero, who maintained a faultless record to finish clear in a time of 43.23 seconds.
With qualification now secured, attention turns towards the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships this August, ahead of the highly anticipated final at the Horse of the Year Show in October.
“I have had Otto for about eighteen months, he is owned by myself, my Mum - Sue Edwards and Bina Ford. He’s just quite unbelievable, he has already had an amazing year, he is only eight, but he is really starting to step up. The Redpost Foxhunter final has been our aim for the past year with him, last year we got the double clears, but we didn’t do the second rounds, so to qualify on the first attempt this year is really nice, especially this early in the season.
“Otto may be at a slight advantage over the other horses as he has been out in Spain, so he’s used to the warmer weather, also he is very blood and fit at the moment. He jumped the Talent Seekers and was second the day before, but he still tried to gallop off with me in the prize giving! He loves it so much and lives for it. He’s phenomenal and got better and better as the class went on. Raf did a really great job course building all weekend, he builds more like they do in Europe and as we are, he is out there a lot, so the courses really suited us. It was fair with the right number through to the second round, in the jump off I didn’t see anyone go before me, I was told the one in the lead was fast, so I went in and went fast and ended up taking the lead by four and a half seconds. We didn’t really need go as fast as we did! I try to do the best round I can do that will suit the horse, which is what I did. He’s been piped a few times recently so deserved the win.
“We have had a lot of interest in him, which we have declined, to be honest we are having so much fun with him, he’s taken twenty years off my riding, and I am really enjoying the sport with him. At home he’s easy, not very big at 16hh and anyone can hack him out, he is Mr Sensible… most of the time!! I didn’t get to HOYS last year so I was keen to get the two classes. Otto will have a few weeks off now, he’s done enough recently, then we will try and jump a few Area Trials, the International at Chard and BSNC, I really like that show. I was second in the BS National Championship last year and was unlucky not to win so I’ll be aiming for that again this year as well as the Redpost Newcomer Masters.” Said Anna.
