Annabel Shields is victorious in the Winter Grand Prix at Northcote Stud

This Sunday, 22 January 2023 saw another Winter Grand Prix being contested at Northcote Stud.

Annabel Shields from County Durham took the victory riding her own and Robert Shields’ Creevagh Carisma, as the only double clear of the class.

A starting field of 10 combinations came forward to tackle the twelve-fence course, with three jumping clear to return for the jump off.

This would be a head-to-head competition between Annabel Shields and Robert Murphy for first place, with Robert having two.

A precise and careful round saw Annabel steer the 13-year-old grey mare to the only double clear of the class, finishing in a time of 37.42 seconds. Although they posted a quicker time of 37.21 seconds, Robert Murphy and High Quality III finished in the runners up spot after the last fence hit the sand.
