On a cold Saturday at Morris Equestrian Centre in Ayrshire, forty-six competitors come forward to jump in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier and it was Durham’s Annabel Shields who took the win with a speedy double clear.
With just two qualification places on offer for this year’s Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex later this summer, a highly competitive class followed. Twenty-two combinations claimed a place in the jump off with fourteen combinations going on to produce a double clear.
Riding Amy Ryan’s 7 year-old bay mare Heather M, Annabel kept one eye on the clock to produce a fast and accurate round to claim their place in the jump off. This pair proved to have more fuel in the tank as they delivered a lighting fast round in the jump off, crossing the finish line in 29.74 seconds.
Jodie Crawford from Stirlingshire took second place on board her 7 year-old brown gelding. CES Wicked Contender. This partnership crossed the finish line with a double clear in 31.76 seconds.
