Annabel Shields secures victory in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Alnwick Ford Equestrian

One of the first SEIB Winter Novice Qualifiers of 2018 was held at the Alnwick Ford Equestrian in Northumberland and it was Annabel Shields from Crook, Durham that delivered a stylish double clear to secure victory.
With two qualification places on offer for the Championship Final, which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex next summer, each horse and rider combination was determined to finish at the top of the leader board. A technical course left eight combinations to go head to head against the all-important clock in the jump off.
Riding Justin Beckwith’s 6 year-old bay gelding, The Cartender, Annabel delivered a solid first round performance for a place in the jump off. This combination stepped up the pace to post the winning double clear in 35.62 seconds.
Jumping into second place was Kelly Connor-Baillie on board Cool Flo, a 7 year-old chestnut mare owned by Lindsay Jeffrey. Making the trip from Fife, Kelly and Cool Flo produced a foot perfect double clear in 36.74 seconds.
