Bumper weekend of Nupafeed Senior Discovery Second Rounds

A busy weekend of showjumping saw three Nupafeed Senior Discovery Second Round contested this weekend up and down the country as riders vied to claim a qualifying spot to the final, held at the British Showjumping National Championships.

At Ponderosa in Newport, South Wales, 30 combinations came forward to contest Richard Davies's first round course.  With the standard high, 17 combinations made it through to the second round with a further nine advancing to the final-jump-off.

Drawn first to go and with her eyes set on the winner's rug, victory was secured by Gloucestershire based Natasha Seely and her own 7-year-old gelding Costa W Z, the pair whizzing around the course and beating her nearest rival Stephanie Brownbill, who was riding Elle Kennedy’s Double M Columbo CD Z, by 14 seconds.  Third place went the way of Rachel Horton and Angela Stanley’s Fidella Missoti who finished 2.74 seconds in arrears.

In the British Novice Second Round, a daring ride ensured that victory was claimed by Millie Mackey with the 6-year-old Oprimara, owned by Seamus Mackey, who finished 11 seconds faster than her nearest rival Clara Peake and her own Origgy 1.  Third place with the final treble clear was claimed by Isobel Hudson riding her own Cooley Iron Man, the pair finishing a further 3.42 seconds off the winning pace.
