Chloe Templeton takes top spot in the Events Though A Lens Talent Seeker Qualifier at Scottish Summer Extravaganza

The fourth Events Through A Lens Talent Seeker Incorporating the Seven-Year-Old Championship Qualifier took place at the Scottish Summer Extravaganza this week and 80 riders took to the arena in an attempt to secure their qualification to the final.

Course Designer Shaun Sands’ 1.30m first round track proved to be challenging as faults came all throughout the course. However, 27 combinations proved it could be done, with one third of the initial starting field advancing to the jump-off.

Ten combinations went onto jump double clear and so the results, and the tickets to the final at the Horse of the Year Show, would be decided by the clock. With 12 still to go after her, Chloe Templeton left nothing to chance and quickly piloted her own and Laura Templeton’s homebred Mizzella around the shortened course in a speedy time of 45.46 seconds, taking the win. Mizella was also the highest placed seven-year-old in the class.

David Harland also had his eye on the clock but couldn’t quite catch the leaders, finishing just 0.19 seconds in arrears with Chincoreve. Jonathan Dixon slotted Jack JL into third, a further 1.38 seconds off the pace.

Commenting on her win, Chloe said: “I am over the moon with our performance yesterday. It’s always such an amazing feeling to qualify for HOYS, but to do it on a homebred mare makes it all the more special. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of her, she’s such a trier and always give me her absolute all. She deserved to qualify this year and I am so happy that she has gone and done it!”
