Eleonora Ljungman Wins Individual Silver at the FEI Jumping European Championships for Children
Sunday 13 July 2025

The final day of the FEI Youth European Championships in Riesenbeck, Germany, got underway today with the Individual Children on Horses Final, and it was Eleonora Ljungman who secured a place on the podium for Great Britain by claiming the silver medal.
Ninety-three riders had come forward at the start of the competition, with the field narrowed down to 31 starters for this morning's Final. Despite the technical challenges posed by the 1.30m course throughout the week, Eleonora and her 11-year-old mare, Jamaica EBH, delivered an impressive full set of five clear rounds that counted towards the Individual competition.
Tension rose when riders from the Netherlands and Switzerland also finished on zero scores, leading to a jump-off to determine the medal placings.
First to go was Dutch rider Lieselot Kooremans, who produced a fast clear round to take the provisional gold medal spot. Next in was Eleonora. Competing at her debut championships, she and Charlotte Ljungman’s Jamaica EBH set off with determination but just tapped the first element of the double, placing them in the provisional silver position. The final rider, Switzerland’s Noah Phillips-De Vuyst, was travelling around the course well until a refusal at the last fence saw him finish in third place—securing the silver medal for Great Britain.
Talking about her success, Eleonora said: "To be honest it’s been pretty crazy. I wasn’t expecting this result at all and was just taking it one round at a time. Jamaica has been unbelievable and I couldn’t have asked for any more from her. She jumped foot-perfect all week and tried her heart out. I truly believe she’s love it just as much as me,"
Commenting on her first Championship experience, Eleonora added: "I’ve absolutely loved my week here, it’s been incredible in every way. It’s been an amazing experience even if I have felt the pressure at some points but it couldn’t have gone better in the end."
Commenting on Eleonora’s medal winning performance, Clare Whitaker said: “Eleonora has gone from strength to strength this week and has ridden incredibly well in a tough competition. She has kept her cool throughout and was just a little unlucky in the jump off – but we are very proud of her and Jamaica EHB who go home with a well-deserved silver medal!”
Great Britian were also represented in the individual final by Tabby Morgan-Evans who finished joint fifth with Tiffany Morgan-Evans’ Bermudez BDA, the pair only dropping one pole all week to end on four faults.
