Fife’s Kelly Connor-Baillie lands a SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier win at SouthView Equestrian Centre

Kelly Connor-Baillie from Fife, Scotland fought off fifty-eight other challengers on Saturday to head the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at SouthView Equestrian Centre.
Each and every competitor was pursuing the two qualification places on offer for this year’s Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex later this summer. Thirty combinations accessed the jump off and nine were able to return home with a double clear.
Riding her own 8 year-old bay mare, Feeling I, Kelly used a late draw to her advantage. Having seen a number of other competitors fault before her, Kelly knew that only a quick but careful round would suffice and her mount duly delivered. Their double clear in 36.08 seconds was to eventually give them 0.16 of a second in hand.
Seventeen year-old Alana Hood, who is also from Fife, took second place on board Lisa Hood’s 7 year-old dark bay Scherzinger FB. This combination delivered their double clear in 36.24 seconds.
