First place for Harriet Biddick in the International Stairway at the New Forest & Hants County Show

In the final round of the International Stairway Series 2022, it was Harriet Biddick, from Yeovil in Somerset, who secured the win on Night of Glory OL, Prince Sultan Saud’s 12 year-old chestnut mare, at the New Forest & Hants County Show.

A testing first round track for the 18 starting combinations saw fences falling all throughout the course. Five combinations made it through to the jump off and it was Harriet Biddick who piloted Night of Glory OL around the course clear in the quickest time, crossing the finish line in 35.33 and taking top spot. Mark Edwards jumped clear into second place aboard Marlene Edwards’ Flying Tinker II in a time of 36.75 seconds. Angela Thompson took third place with her own Crispo, in a time of 39.18.

The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.

The International Stairway, supported by the British Showjumping Partnership with funding from sponsors including Charles Owen, KBIS Insurance, NAF and Zebra Products.
