Graham Gillespie & Quantum KS - 2nd in Gorla Minore CSI 3* Grand Prix

Sunday 24 March 2019

Graham Gillespie with the 11 year-old dark bay stallion Quantum KS finished 2nd in the 1.50m Grand Prix this afternoon in Gorla Minore, Italy.

An enormous field of almost 60 starters came forward to contest the course, which required sixteen jumping efforts across the thirteen obstacles,  but it was only six of them that managed to finish clear with zero penalties to add.  Joining Graham in the jump-off were three home riders in the form of Davide Kainich, Roberto Arioldi and Piergiorgio Bucco with Barbara Schnieper for Switzerland and Douglas Lindelow for Sweden.

It was Douglas with Jezebel that secured the lead with their second round clear in a time of 30.07 seconds.  Graham and Quantum KS certainly sat hot on their heels with a third of a second separating them when he broke the finish line clear in a time of 38.27 seconds to finish in 2nd place.

There were only two other jump-off clears, neither of which managed to break the 40 second barrier.  The closest to the leaders came in the shape of Davide Kainich who took 3rd on Oliver Twist Bay and Roberto Arioldi in 4th with Chiclone.
