Hartpury Winter Classic Show - Round-Up

The Winter Classic Show at Hartpury University (18 – 20 December) saw Oliver Fletcher and the consistent Hello Disckoboy D.N. take top spot in the Grand Prix against forty-five determined combinations.

Oliver from Oxfordshire, and the 12 year old grey gelding owned by Lady Kirkham & Lady Harris, had stiff competition as twenty-one competitors made it through to the jump off so speed was of the essence and it paid off as they achieved a double clear in 31.55 second to claim the win. Sienna Charles onboard Chinta Van Geluttz came a close second stopping the clock just a fraction of a second slower in 31.94 seconds. Third place was taken by Chloe Reynolds riding Grenadier Volo with a slightly steadier double clear in 32.90 seconds.

The SEIB Winter Novice qualifier ran on Saturday and it was Bethanie Knight from Southampton who took the win with Tony Newbury’s grey gelding, Kingston VI. This combination put in a superb performance to cross the finish line with a double clear in 33.92 seconds. It was a competitive class with forty-two starters in the first round, nineteen of which came forward for the jump-off, with five going on the jump a double clear.

Another direct qualifier contested at the show was the Winter B&C. This qualifier was won by Jake Myers onboard Sam W. This partnership posted a double clear in 34.91 seconds just ahead of Adam Ellery and Helios B who finished with a double clear in 35.46 seconds.

The final day saw the Winter Grade C qualifier take place.  Again, it was a strong field that came forward, but it was Jake Myers who proved to be on a winning streak as he topped the leader board yet again this time riding Calcourt Qualvados. With many of his fellow competitor coming home with a double clear, Jake picked up the pace to achieve his double clear in 36.30 seconds.
