Hollie Gerken gambles for the win in the National 128cm Champion

Hollie Gerken, aged 11, and Black Jack III jumped to the finish to take the National 128cm Champion title at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021 at NAEC, Stoneleigh Park.  With the top four placings offering a qualification to Horse of the Year Show, there was a lot to compete for.

Holly took the title riding the 19-year-old pony Black Jack III after travelling to the Championships from Colchester in Essex with her family, including mum Jade Gerken who owns Black Jack . Speaking of their win today, Holly exclaimed: “I wasn’t going to do the inside turn to one of the fences as he [Black Jack] has a big stride, but lucky I did!”

Hollie and Black Jack return to the Championships later this week for the Pony Discovery Championship. The combination also rose to victory last week winning the HOYS qualifier at Wales. Holly already has 3 ponies competing at HOYS 2021, and can’t wait to compete at the NEC in October.

Taking second place was Liala Ramaci riding Lambay off Broadway, and third place was another impressive ranking for Hollie riding Moyralla Bob.
