Jamie Wingrove and Bart VI win MET Grand Prix

Sunday 29 October 2017

It was a tremendous CSI 2* win for Jamie Wingrove with the 11 year-old Bart VI, owned by Helen Rees, today in the Autumn MET Tour at Oliva, Spain.

The huge field of sixty-four starters saw only four jump clear in the first round with only two of those managing to achieve a double clear.  For Jamie, his clear in a time of 38.26 seconds was enough to secure a ten second lead ahead of Marcel Wefahrt (GER) with Carnon who posted the only other jump-off clear in 48.60 seconds.

The closest contender in terms of time came in the form of Michael Duffy (IRE) who managed to stop the clock in a time of 39.47 seconds, just over a second behind the one set by Jamie. However, a fence down meant a 3rd place finish for them just ahead of Maria Bibikova (RUS) and Quasimodo who finished in 42.95 seconds.

The other Brits who narrowly missed out on qualifying for the jump off having picked up a time penalty in the first round were John Popely with For Fun and Amy Inglis who finished in 6th and 7th place respectively.  Emma Stoker and Matt Sampson followed in 7th and 8th position as the fastest first round riders on 4 penalties.
