Jessica Hewlett claims third in the Young Rider Grand Prix with Ilmar HBC

Jessica Hewlett finished best of the Brits in the Young Rider 1.45m Grand Prix riding her own 9-year-old Ilmar HBC at the Youth Festival in Compiegne, France.

A total of 49 competitors faced a challenging course and only nine found all the right answers to gain access to the jump-off.  Jessica posted another foot-perfect clear round on the Dantos HBC x Voltaire 10-year-old Ilmar to finish in third, three seconds behind the winner, Switzerland’s Shirel Schornoz on Obama Du Soufflet.

Sandy McLean was two seconds faster than the winning time on his own and Marjory McNaughton’s Gino F but a crucial rail fell and dropped them down to finish an eventual fifth.
