Joseph Trunkfield does the double as he soars to victory in the LeMieux Six Bar

On 19 December 2022, the final day of The London International Horse Show started with The Lemieux Six Bar, which delivered a victory for Joseph Trunkfield and James Ingham’s 11-year-old grey gelding Cruze.

In total, 12 starters lined up to face the six-obstacle course, run over a knock-out format, whereby those jumping clear in the first rounds went through to face the increasingly imposing course.

Just two combinations made it to the fourth and final round, where the final fence stood at an incredible 1.90m (6ft 3) – Joseph Trunkfield, joint winner of the LeMieux Puissance earlier in the week, and Nathan Bull, riding his own Moonstern JX.

In the head-to-head final round, first to jump Joseph put on a foot-perfect performance to secure his place at the top of the leaderboard, placing the pressure on Nathan. On this occasion, despite a brave display of athleticism, Nathan and Moonstern JX couldn’t quite match that of Joseph and Cruze, finishing second.

Four riders finished in joint third place having all had a fence down in the third round, where the last fence stood at 1.80m: Joseph Stockdale and Bublon, Austria’s Christoph Obernauer and Kleons Cocario, John Whitaker and Sharid, and Sebastian Hughes and Colorado Volo.
