Keysoe Int'l - Day Two - Saturday Round Up
Saturday 26 November 2016
Nick Benterman lifted the major class of the day at Keysoe International with Canyon Volo, a big Calvaro Z 9-year-old gelding bred in Germany that stands more than 18hh. His height didn’t impinge on ability or agility, and the fleet-footed Canyon Volo answered every call in this two-phase class to hand Nick victory by 0.93 sec.
Tim Stockdale eased the Flipper D’Elle 9-year-old gelding Tornado Des Monts into second with Phillip Miller on the 7-year-old Roulette H in third.
Rachael Connor’s incredible form continued. A multi-winner at Morris winter premier last weekend and also a winner here on day one, Rachael posted a great victory double, heading both the 1.25m and 1.15m.
Rachael – recently selected for British Showjumping’s ‘Step up to Gold’ programme, headed the 1.25m by more than three seconds on B Valeree, a 10-year-old Larino daughter bought in February.
Dale Burnham took second on Calinka VH Maarlo Z, a Calido x Darco 9-year-old, and Julian Mincher eased the diminutive 10-year-old gelding Risk It into third.
Rachael’s other win came in the 1.15m, Lottie III repeating her 1.10m win of 24 hours earlier. The 13-year-old Oklund daughter also claimed a commanding lead to win by more than three seconds. Bryony Ward took second on the 15-year-old gelding Scholarship with Gessica Gusi in third on the Silverstone 11-year-old Ambosell I two seconds in arrears.
Jodie Hall McAteer was just 0.07 sec off winning the 1.35m aboard Colette, but they were beaten to the top spot by Ireland’s Luke Garrigan on MHS La Scala. Corrine Collins jumped into third aboard the 10-year-old gelding Bugatti B.
