Laura Renwick and Marseille Scale the International Stairway at Suffolk County Show
Tuesday 02 June 2026

The International Stairway provided an exciting spectacle at Suffolk County Show on Thursday, with 12 rider combinations coming forward to tackle Kelvin Bywater's challenging course in a bid for victory.
The demanding first-round track proved influential, with only five combinations successfully navigating their way into the jump-off. With the pressure on and valuable seconds to be found, the stage was set for a thrilling conclusion.
It was Laura Renwick who ultimately claimed top honours aboard her own Marseille. Producing a confident and polished round, the pair crossed the finish line clear in a winning time of 46.51 seconds to secure victory in style.
Taking second place was Ella Dalton riding Hurricane VDL. The combination delivered another impressive clear round, stopping the clock at 48.97 seconds to finish as runners-up.
Third place went to David Harland riding Murchacko Quatro, who produced the final double clear performance of the class. A composed jump-off round saw him complete the course fault-free to secure a place on the podium.
The International Stairway once again proved a popular feature of the Suffolk County Show, with riders and spectators alike enjoying an exciting afternoon of top-class showjumping competition.
“Marseille, or Neil as we call him at home is a really kind, gentle giant of a horse and is really easy to do and have around. I have been riding him since 2023, he loves the big grass rings you get at the county shows. It was our second county show of the year and I really enjoyed it, it was a successful couple of days winning the speed class on the first day, the accumulator on day two followed by the Business Partnership International Stairway.
“The course was up to height and tough enough with technical lines, you had to jump it. It was a good course and a nice jump off with good striding. It’s nice in those big rings to be able to open the horse up, there were a couple of turns, he’s quite agile, then at the end of the course I could just use his stride and that really helped. Suffolk is always a strong show, jumping wise, it’s great to get a win there. With the two other wins I ended up Leading Rider which was also good!
“Neil will have a short break now, I’ve a holiday planned and then we will head to Bolesworth and try and do what we did last year if we can, that’s the next big thing we have on the calendar.” Laura said.
The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows throughout the season, with winning combinations accruing league points that count towards the Final at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park.
The series culminates in a high-profile championship where not only is the National Champion crowned, but three coveted Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are also up for grabs, adding even more excitement and prestige to the competition.
The International Stairway Series is supported by the British Showjumping Business Partnership, which includes ClipMyHorse.TV, Charles Owen, HorseQuest, Equine Bio Genie and Zebra Products, to whom everyone at British Showjumping is extremely grateful.
