Oliver Tuff lands the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Hartpury University

Hartpury University in Gloucestershire played host to a number of qualifiers during the Winter Classic Show at the weekend and this included one of SEIB Winter Novice Qualifiers. A strong field of forty-one combinations took on Course Designer Krissy Speller’s 10 fence-track which had a starting height of 1.10m but no one could match Totness based Oliver Tuff.
Twenty-one of the initial starters made their way into the jump-off having produced a first round clear, with seven going on to keep a clean slate. But with only two qualifying tickets on offer for the Championship Final at the Longines Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead next summer, it all came down to the clock.
The young guns dominated the top of the leaderboard with 16 year-old Oliver Tuff claiming the top spot with Justin Tuff’s Galacia II, an eye-catching 8 year-old British bred mare by Spartacus whom Oliver took the ride on at the beginning of the month. The pair crossed the finished line with the quickest round of the class, posting a time of 32.60 seconds. Just finger tips away from taking the win was 15 year-old Jake Myers, also from Devon. Jake piloted Zoe Legg’s 8 year-old Dutch bred mare Gerlina Van De Linthorst to a clear round in 32.74 seconds, just 0.14 of a second behind Oliver.
