Prolific HOYS Winner Pippa Goddard Takes Talent Seekers Honours

Pippa Goddard added another major title to her Horse of the Year Show portfolio by winning the Talent Seekers, incorporating the seven-year-old Championship, to conclude an action-packed opening day in Birmingham.
Pippa, who is based in Canterbury, returned to HOYS with grey mare PDV Constanza a year after landing the Senior Newcomers Championship.
And they delivered another immaculate performance after six combinations from 29 starters progressed to the jump-off, including highest seven-year-old finisher Dunard Air Tyson, ridden by Holly Smith, who was sixth overall.
Joe Trunkfield and Maymar Loma set a scorching pace, clocking 32.03 seconds, but Pippa went more than half a second inside that time to take the top prize, with Sammie Coffin and Johnny A finishing third.
Reflecting on her latest HOYS triumph, a delighted Pippa said: "I think when you are riding a horse like her you can always have a little bit of an expectation.
"She can go well, if everything goes our way. She is really careful, she is fast and she is really competitive. I think when you can fully trust them to jump the jump for you, you know, that's everything.
"I knew Joe was fast, but actually I was warming up so I didn't see anyone, but sometimes I almost think that's better because otherwise you can see someone and start over-thinking it.
"It's great. You know, we all watch this show and have been coming here since we were tiny. No matter what class you win here, it's always really special, and I am just very grateful to be able to do it."
