Rebecca Leech from Newcastle, Staffordshire fought off stiff competition on Sunday from forty-three other combinations to scoop the winning spot in the Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round at Dean Valley in Stockport, Cheshire.
With competitors focused on securing one of the twelve qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool (18th – 22nd November 2015), spectators were treated to an exciting twenty-eight horse jump off.
Rebecca proved victorious in this second round on board Janette Davidson’s 18 year-old grey mare Seskins Popper. Drawn to go at the midway point in the jump off, the combination produced a second textbook round to cross through the finish line with the fences still standing in 37.19 seconds. This was a result that was to prove unassailable.
Second place was taken by Hannah Alberta from Croft, Warrington and she rode her own 15 year-old bay gelding My Boy IV. This combination produced their double clear in 38.17 seconds.
Clare Bossons from Scholar Green, Stoke-on-Trent secured third with her own 15 year-old bay mare Toetie after they completed their double clear in 41.11 seconds.
