Robert Whitaker wins Sunshine Tour CSI4* Grand Prix

Monday 06 March 2017

It was an incredibly hard and fast jump-off in yesterday’s Sunshine Tour CSI4* Grand Prix at Vejer de la Frontera, Spain for Robert Whitaker and Catwalk IV who took the eventual win to place a union flag at the head of the line up.

Seven horses qualified for the jump off but Robert’s scorching fast clear proved a step to far for the rest of the field who were unable to catch his time of 45.22 seconds.  Tim Wilks, last years British Showjumping 21 years-and-under rider of the year put up a good fight but had to settle for 2nd with Quelbora Merze with their clear in a time of 45.62 seconds.

Talking afterwards Robert said “Catwalk IV is my best horse here and I had our eyes set on the Grand Prix with him.  I have some younger 8 year-olds who are all going well in the lesser classes and will hopefully be ready for bigger classes soon”.

Third place went to home rider Ivan Serrano on Chaccman.  For full results visit www.sunshinetour.net
