Ruby Barrs from Great Britain gets 2nd place in the Longines FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy Final in Belgium

Great Britain’s Ruby Barrs put in a stirling performance to get 2nd place in the Longines FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy Final (1.30-1.35m) in Mechelen, Belgium on Friday, 30 December 2022.

Ruby, riding Jacqueline Barrs 17-year-old bay horse Casper, came in second place behind the winner, Ireland’s Ben Walsh riding Derryvane Belle, and ahead of Belgium’s Laurie Tijkens on Navayo who came in third.

The Final consisted of two full rounds of jumping, not against the clock, where the results from both rounds were added together to give each rider their final score. No jump off was necessary.

It was a great few days in Mechelen for Ruby, as she also won the Tao FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy (1.30-1.35m) two days earlier - on Wed, 28 Dec 22 - also on Casper. She managed a double clear with a jump off time of 39.82 seconds, ahead of the Netherlands, Jersey Kuijpers on Lafaletta and Laure Tijskens from Belgium also riding Navayo, who both came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
