Sarah Jo Cumberland Speeds to Glory in the to win the Equissage Pulse Senior British Novice Second Round at Willow Banks

On Saturday, May 11th, Willow Banks served as the venue for the fourth Equissage Pulse Senior British Novice Second Round of 2024. A total of 60 horses entered the arena to tackle the first of three rounds. Only those who successfully navigated course builder Piers Warmoth’s 12-fence track would advance to the second round, where they aimed for another clear round to qualify for the jump-off.

Impressive performances from all competitors led to a competitive jump-off featuring 18 starters. Ultimately, Sarah Jo Cumberland clinched the victory aboard her own Melbourne Sum Lass For One Lass, posting the only sub-40-second time of the round. Racing through the jump-off, they crossed the finish line in 38.06 seconds, a remarkable 3.75 seconds ahead of the next fastest time set by Remy Wilson Barnes and Roundthorn Morpheus.

The Equissage Pulse Senior British Novice Championship stands as one of the most hotly contested senior series in the national showjumping calendar. From each of the twelve second rounds held nationwide, all triple clears or the top one, two or three horses (depending on number of starters) will qualify to compete for the highly desired Equissage Pulse Senior British Novice Champion title at the Final held at the British Showjumping National Championships.
