Shane Breen takes the win in the International Stairway at South of England Show

The second leg of the International Stairway Series 2022 was held at the South of England Show and it was Shane Breen from Haywards Heath, West Sussex who clinched the win on Vistogrand, Breen Equestrian’s nine-year-old bay stallion.

A challenging first round track produced just three clear rounds from the five combinations that went through to the jump off. Shane and Vistogrand become the one of only two combinations to produce a double clear as they crossed the finish line in 40.35 seconds to take top spot. Sian Edwards jumped in to second place with the only other double clear in a time of 41.60, aboard her own 13-year-old bay gelding, Elessar. Alfie Bradstock took third place with Tracy Priest’s Iniesta II. After a picking up just one time fault in the first round, this combination went on to jump clear in the second round to finish in 46.86 seconds.

The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.

The International Stairway, supported by the British Showjumping Partnership with funding from sponsors including Charles Owen, KBIS Insurance, NAF and Zebra Products.
