Six budding stars jumped treble clear in the first qualifier of 2023 of the Prestige Italia Big Star competition for 6-year-olds at Chard Equestrian to qualify for the Final at the British Showjumping National Championships at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, in August.
Twenty-four horse and rider combinations came forward to face a 10-fence 1.15m course designed by course-designer Krissy Spiller. Nineteen produced initial clears to go into round two with 12 posting double clears to access the third and final round.
The final 12 were halved for the top places as six jumped treble clear. They were – Scarlett Worrow on Sibalio Keizersberg Z (Scotch On Ice Z/Kannan), Joe Trunkfield with Mimosa Van Overis Z (Moncler Van Overis/Pablo Van Berkenbroek), Leo Lamb aboard Chrysler Key SR (Comme Il Faut 5/Calido I), Nikki Freeman’s Joe Malone (Fruselli/Pierrot) Laura Mantel on the I Love You stallion I Love You Too and Chris Moyce riding Cornet Elite (Cornet Obolensky/Ircolando).
