Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round at Holmside Hall Equestrian

Holmside Hall Equestrian in Burnhope, County Durham held a Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round on Sunday 15th September 2013.

All of the competitors that came forward to compete in this second round were hoping to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

Nineteen combinations came forward to start in this second round and eleven went on to make it through into the jump off. All of the remaining combinations were aiming to produce a double clear and four combinations achieved this.

The top spot was taken by 48 year-old Sara Blakey from Wingate, County Durham and she took victory on her own 17 year-old grey mare, Ferndale Summer Breeze. This combination produced one of only two sub 34.00 seconds double clears. They eventually won the class in a time of 33.54 seconds.

Second was taken by 24 year-old Holly Stevenson from Northallerton, North Yorkshire, who was on board her own 9 year-old bay gelding, Touchdown Billy. Their double clear was delivered in 33.99 seconds.

In third was 47 year-old Sonya Row from Cramlington, Northumberland and she secured a top three finish on JA’s Malacoff, her own 19 year-old grey gelding. The combination produced a second immaculate clear to finish on 0 faults in 37.57 seconds.

A further eight riders went on to achieve their qualification place for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.
