Dodson & Horrell 1.00m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Gracelands Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds continued at Gracelands Equestrian Centre in Droitwich, Worcestershire on Saturday 14th September 2013 with a 1.00m second round and a 1.10m second round.

All of those competing in these second rounds were hoping to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

Fifty-four competitors came forward for the 1.00m second round, with twenty-four making it into the jump off. Seven competitors then went on to achieve a double clear.

Samantha Oliver (26) from Solihull, West Midlands took victory in this second round with her own 14 year-old bay gelding, Siranimo S. Samantha and Siranimo S’s jump off round was fantastic and she ended up finishing over two seconds ahead of the second placed combination. They ended up stopping the clock on 36.21 seconds.

Second place was taken by 41 year-old Victoria Douglas from Coventry, Warwickshire, who rode her own 11 year-old grey mare, Zarco II. Their double clear in 38.25 seconds ensured that a top two finish was theirs.

Third was taken by 16 year-old Katherine Raw-Rees from Shropshire on board her own Peggy’s Rumour, a 12 year-old bay mare. They delivered their double clear in 38.77 seconds to secure a top three finish.

A further nine riders went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round.
A total of thirty-five combinations started out in this second round and fifteen combinations got through into the jump off.

The win in this second round was taken by 21 year-old Zara Doidge Walker from Birmingham, West Midlands. Zara was on board her own 8 year-old chestnut mare, Biberty Boberty Boo and they secured victory with a double clear in 34.53 seconds.

Samantha Oliver enjoyed yet more success on this second rounds day, this time on Rocko VIII, her own 8 year-old dark bay gelding. Samantha produced another double clear from her ride, this time stopping the clock on 36.12 seconds.

Tracy Wright (51) from Salt, Staffordshire took third place on Silva Image, her own 12 year-old grey mare. This combination also achieved a double clear and they finished on a time of 36.39 seconds.

Nine further riders also went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.
