Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Allens Hill Competition Centre

Allens Hill Competition Centre in Pershore, Worcestershire was the venue for two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, namely a 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round and a 1.15m National Amateur Second Round. The Second Rounds were held on Saturday 29th September 2012 and combinations flocked from all around the country with the aim of qualifying for the Championships.
Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships.
Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round.
The 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round attracted 43 eligible starting combinations, all of whom began their Championships qualifying campaign. From these combinations, an impressive 39 made it through to the jump off and in the jump off, 20 riders achieved an immaculate double clear, which meant that the times were to decide the places.
The overall winner was 16-year-old Chelsea Skelton from Lincolnshire. Chelsea rode a superb double clear in a fast time to secure the win and a Championship Final place on board Company Business, an eight-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Janet Elvin. Chelsea rode her second clear in a time of 34.38 seconds to seal the win.
The combination finishing in second place was beaten by only 0.71 of a second and it was 22-year-old Clare Robinson from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire who secured second on board her own That Was Lucky, a 14-year-old bay mare. Clare rode her second clear in a time of 35.09 seconds to ensure she finished in second place.
The combination that finished in third was 16-year-old Estelle Parrot from Staffordshire and she secured her Championship Final place on board her own 7-year old bay roan gelding, Pipsqueek T. The combination produced their second clear in a time of 35.43 seconds.
A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
The 1.15m National Amateur Second Round attracted 13 starting combinations and 10 of these combinations achieved the first round clear required to get through to the jump off. In the jump off, sixriders went on to achieve that crucial double clear, which again meant that the times decided the places.
In this second round, the top place was filled by 18-year-old Jasmine Punter from Wiltshire on board her own Clio V, a 10-year-old bay mare. The combination posted a time of 37.73 seconds, ensuring that they won the class by just 0.3 seconds.
Second place was secured by 33-year-old Julia Helm from Shrewley, Warwickshire and she achieved her double clear on board her own 17-year-old bay gelding, Fritz Luke. Julia rode her second clear in a time of 38.03 seconds.
Third place was taken by 44-year-old Nina Emery from Cannock, Staffordshire and she rode her own Piana, a 9-year old bay mare, clear over the jump off course. The combination produced their second clear in a time of 40.23 seconds.
A further seven riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final. A further three combinations produced a double clear and the remaining four qualified due to the production of a clear in the first round of the class.
