Equiyd National Amateur Championship Second Rounds Produce Exciting Competition at Dorset Showground

Dorset Showground played host to an exciting weekend of competition as riders battled it out in the Equiyd National Amateur Championship Qualifier Second Rounds, with places in November’s Championship Final at Aintree up for grabs.
Across the four classes, riders faced challenging courses designed by Clive Phillips, with competitors needing to produce both accuracy and speed to secure their place at the Championship Final.
Equiyd 85cm National Amateur Championship Qualifier – Second Round
Eleven rider combinations came forward in the 85cm qualifier, with seven producing clear rounds to progress through to the second round.
It was Sally Randles who claimed the top spot aboard her own Permission To Land II, delivering a foot-perfect clear in 31.86 seconds. Kerri Dyte and Ballyknock Rambling Rose took second place with a clear in 33.60 seconds, while Lucy Hewlett and Fuerteventura completed the top three, also jumping clear in 33.73 seconds.
Equiyd 95cm National Amateur Championship Qualifier – Second Round
Nine combinations contested the 95cm qualifier, with four riders progressing to the second round after jumping clear in the first.
Emily Dimery continued her successful weekend by taking victory aboard her own The Stig, crossing the finish line clear in 33.38 seconds. Just behind was Alice Saniford with Omalleys Galway Girl, who posted a clear in 33.44 seconds. Ellie Moore and Delhurens Upsey Daisy secured third place with another clear round in 34.25 seconds.
Equiyd 1.05m National Amateur Championship Qualifier – Second Round
Emily Dimery and The Stig were once again the combination to beat in the 1.05m qualifier. Of the eight rider combinations that came forward, six jumped clear in the first round to progress to the second.
Dimery and The Stig produced another impressive clear to take the win in 36.52 seconds. Jane Greenham and Levis K finished second, also clear, in 36.60 seconds, while Antonia Ndekwe and Arcady Royale completed the top three with a clear in 44.66 seconds.
Equiyd 1.10m National Amateur Championship Qualifier – Second Round
Seven combinations lined up for the 1.10m qualifier, with three riders producing clear first rounds to secure their place in the second.
Gemma Butchers and her own Creevagh Crum took the win in style, jumping clear in a quick 32.98 seconds.
Victoria Walton and Oathill Viscount finished second. Although they jumped clear over the fences, time faults in the jump-off gave them a final score of five faults, with a time of 52.35 seconds.
Third place went to Mackenzie Bond riding Fiva La Vida, who finished with four jumping faults and eight time faults in the jump-off for a total of 12 faults.
With the Dorset Showground qualifiers now complete, attention will turn to Aintree in November, where those who have secured their qualification will battle it out for the coveted Equiyd National Amateur Championship titles.
