Equiyd National Amateur Second Rounds at Chard Equestrian and South View

The Equiyd Amateur Second Round qualifiers continued last weekend at Chard Equestrian, showcasing impressive performances from riders vying for a place in the national finals. The top eight horse-and-rider combinations in each class will qualify, provided they deliver a clear round in the first stage of their qualifier.

Ten combinations came forward to tackle course designer Roger Hughes’ 85cm qualifying track, with six delivering a clear round to secure their place in the jump-off as well as their ticket to the final. With three jumping a further clear round, the results would be decided by the clock, and it was Scarlett Walton who secured top spot with her own seven-year-old mare, Veras Lady, in a time of 35.41 seconds. Ellie May Payne came oh so close to beating the winning time, finishing in second just 0.18 seconds off the pace with Donna Phillips’ Lancelot Dwerse Hagen. Kirby Shepherd jumped the final double clear to fill third spot with her own Premier Rosy Balou.
