Coombelands Equestrian hosted the final Events Through a Lens Talent Seeker Qualifier of the 2024 season this week. A field of 65 horse and rider combinations stepped up to contend the 1.30m track, hoping to secure a top spot and qualify for the Horse of the Year Show Final in October.
Challenges emerged all through the first round with only 15 riders advancing to the jump-off after riding clear withing the time allowed. One of five double clears, Nicole Pavitt and Sally Scott’s Cornet of Follyfoot clinched victory with a time of 37.21 seconds, 1.12 seconds faster than second placed Lauren Caroline and Be Cuick One. Max Routledge, who had three rides in the jump-off, picked up third with Ascadina PPZ.
Nicole has already qualified Cornet of Follyfoot for the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Final having won the qualifier at Wales and West. The pair look set to bring their all to the Championship finals as Cornet of Follyfoot, whom Nicole calls Mr Consistent, won the Senior Newcomers at last year’s HOYS under the guide of Nicole’s sister Louise.
“I thought Coombelands did it quite well where all the seven-year-olds went first, followed by the rest of the entries, so you knew who the seven-year-olds were," said Nicole.
“It was a good course, and we were second to go but he is one of the most consistent horses and has now got all his qualifications for this year. I am so pleased."
