Two Nupafeed Supplements Discovery Second Round Wins in One Weekend

This weekend, the focus for many was on the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round Competitions, where riders vied for qualification at two venues for a spot in the Final at the British Showjumping National Championships.

At Chard Equestrian in Somerset, Kathryn Ellison dazzled with two outstanding performances. Piloting her own horses Latona Minka and Nostrodamis Van de Kalevallei, she secured the top two spots with only a fraction of a second between them. Kathryn, a regular at Chard, remarked, “They’re both fairly green and have never been anywhere other than Chard. We’re so lucky here that they run so many shows; we’ve no need to take our own horses elsewhere. I was confident going in that we were competitive as I know they’re both nice, careful horses.”

Reflecting on her winning ride, Latona Minka, Kathryn shared, “I’ve had her about 18 months; I bought her direct from Holland. She’s now eight but has had three foals, so wasn’t broken until the end of her sixth year. She turned up much smaller than I expected... she’s my little pocket rocket! She’s got so much jump and loves it – more spring than she knows what to do with! She was very late starting so I only started jumping her September last year. Being a little bit older she’s more mature.”

Meanwhile, in Lancashire at Willow Banks Equestrian, Philip Curtis and his horse Pattro SR claimed their victory, clocking the fastest time in the jump-off at 41.97 seconds, ahead of second-placed Ellie McCarty and Darkars Lady.

Philip praised his horse, saying, “He’s super trainable, happy, and just getting better all the time. He’s got the lineage and the scope to go far. His scope is unbelievable." Expressing his fondness for Pattro SR, Philip added, "He’s real nice-natured; my little boy rides him, I ride him, Sam will ride him. She doesn’t ride much, but she gets on him! He’s just a big friendly giant.”
