Shari Vincent Secures Summer NAF Silver League Victory at Pyecombe

The NAF Five Star Summer Silver League Qualifier at Pyecombe Horse Show attracted a strong field of 37 rider combinations at the weekend, all looking to secure a coveted place in the next stage of the championship series.

Riders took on Nathan Farrell’s testing course, which proved influential throughout the opening rounds. After two demanding phases of competition, 17 combinations successfully jumped clear to earn their place in an exciting jump-off.

With the clock now playing a crucial role, the competition became incredibly tight, with only fractions of a second separating the leading riders. Rising to the challenge was Shari Vincent riding their own Crystal Klar, who produced a superb clear round in a winning time of 35.03 seconds to claim the top spot.

Second place went to Imogen Yule aboard Light Year, who also delivered a stylish clear round to finish just behind the winners in 35.68 seconds. Completing the podium was Catherine Housman riding Contrichta, crossing the line clear in 35.83 seconds after another impressive performance in the competitive jump-off.

The class highlighted the depth of talent within the series, with riders now turning their attention towards the Summer Silver League semi-finals later this season, ahead of the prestigious final at Horse of the Year Show in October.

“We had a great year in the Bronze League last season, having only just stepped up to this level this year, I honestly had no expectations. My mare loves to jump off so when we made it through, I thought, why not let’s go for it. Crystal is seven and I started her as a four-year-old, so we have been working up through the levels together.  It means quite a lot to me to do well with her, she is my only horse, it’s a big thing for us to qualify. We did the NAF Bronze League last year and ended up at HOYS, I have really only just started jumping at Silver League level, I never expected it, we did the Codham one and thought I’m not sure she’s ready yet and then a week later she goes and wins. I was really happy!

“Crystal is actually very quirky, and she just loves to jump, it’s all she wants to do. I really like it at Pyecombe the course was great, it all came together on the day. There was about eighteen in the jump off so I really had to go for it, she’s the easiest to ride when we are in a jump off as she quite likes going against the clock. I thought, why not!

“We will work on gaining more experience at this level ahead of the semi-final. It will be lovely to go to Chard again, I am really looking forward to it, it’s really nice there. I had made my decision to try this route rather than through the league as Crystal is better if she’s not out competing all the time so it’s great to get the qualification in the direct qualifier.” Shari said.
