Aileen Craig is victorious in the Redpost Equestrian Foxhunter Second Round at the Scottish Summer Extravaganza

The Redpost Equestrian Foxhunter Seconds Rounds continued this week at the Scottish Summer Extravaganza, with Aileen Craig taking top spot riding her own C&N Lockdown.

43 combinations came forward over course designer Shaun Sand’s 1.30m track and the competition was fierce, with half of the starting field jumping clear and advancing to the first jump-off. The field was further reduced to 12 for the final jump-off where five riders jumped the all the all-important triple clear.

First to go, Chris Moyce set the pace with Loe Loe 2nd and the pair looked like they would remain in top spot until Aileen Craig entered the area. Storming around the shortened course, Aileen and her seven-year-old gelding jumped another foot perfect round, wiping 1.34 seconds off the clock to take top spot. Thomas Pritchard chased hard but couldn’t quite match the pace, finishing second with Honky Cat, relegating Chris and Loe Loe 2nd into third spot.

No stranger to the hallowed purple curtains at the Horse of the Year Show, having won the British Showjumping Amateur Classic in 2011 with Quiberon D, Aileen and C&N Lockdown look set to contend the final after a run of recent success.
