Ben Maher & Don Vito fly to victory in Wellington

Ben Maher, from Bishops Stortford, secured a win in the $35,000 FEI 1.50m Classic today with Don Vito owned by Poden Farms.

From a field of over fifty starters it was just eleven that managed to jump clear in the first round and qualify for the jump off.  Joining Ben was fellow Brit Amanda Derbyshire with Lady Maria BH who finished overall 7th as the fastest rider carrying 4 faults in the jump off.

For Ben, his jump-off clear saw him finish on a zero penalty score alongside five others. His blistering fast time of 39.617 seconds just couldn’t be touched however resulting in him securing a superb victory in an extremely hard fought for class.   Relegated into second place was Fabio Leivas da Costa for Brazil with a time of 39.72 whilst Canadian rider Jonathan Millar with Daveau took 3rd
