British Showjumping National Championships 2026 - Day 3

Cooler conditions greeted Stoneleigh Park on day 3 of the British Showjumping National Championships, but the competition remained sizzling as more reigning Champions retain their titles.
Emma Sargeant completed a remarkable hat-trick of Championship victories, claiming the National 1.25m Championship aboard Whisper's Love.
“It feels great, she's won every class she's been in, and she's jumped like a little star really... She always tries her hardest, and she's always quick in a jump-off, so I'm absolutely delighted.” Reflected Emma.
Phoebe Jefferies and Zipwire successfully defended their National 1.05m Championship title, producing the fastest of eight double clears in a competitive class of 59 combinations.
“He's such a quick horse and he covers the ground really well and the course really suited him.” Phoebe told us.
She added: “I'm so proud of him, he's such a super horse, he just loves to jump and he loved to run and jump-offs are his favourite thing because we get to do both of those.”
Douglas Duffin claimed the Redpost Equestrian Foxhunter Masters with Laura Tinto’s home-bred seven-year-old Omex Star HBF, securing another HOYS ticket.
Delighted with the result, Douglas said: “She's already qualified for the Grade C. It's nice to have the Foxhunter as well, which is one of the most prestigious classes to qualify for.”
A huge 43 combinations came forward for the jump-off in the National 95cm Championship. Catherine Mills and Wishful Italica produced a lightning-fast round to claim the title by an incredible 1.62 seconds.
Describing her win, Catherine said: "It's absolutely incredible, I never expected it. It's a terrifying wait being in the middle of a jump-off of 40-something, so absolutely unreal."
The Retraining of Racehorses Club Finals also produced memorable winners, with Karen Dickson and D Day IV taking the 75cm Final, Bethan Crozier and Cubao claiming the 90cm Final, and Tracey McLaughlin and Heart Star the Bronze League Final.
Rewarding four years of partnership with former racehorse D Day IV, Karen said: “Oh, it's amazing, I've been going through a rough stage with him the last couple of months, but it looks like we got it together today.”
An emotional Bethan said: “It feels absolutely amazing. I didn’t expect to win... to win is just brilliant.”
Tracey described her mare as “an amazing mare, a little pocket rocket at just under 15.1hh. She's achieved more than me in this last year than any horse I ever imagined would.”
Day three concluded with the Para Equestrian Championships, where Evie Toombes retained her Grade III title for the second year running with her mum’s Dieu's Utopia Z.
Born with Spina Bifida and tube fed for 16 hours a day, Evie continues to defy expectations in the saddle. “Trying to ride horses probably doesn't work on paper, but we make it work and days like this really make it worthwhile.”
Speaking about her horse, Evie said: “he looks after me, he is a gentle giant, he's a lot bigger than I am.”
Jordan Phelps claimed the Grade IV Championship with Toyland Detective. After losing her vision in a riding accident six years ago, Jordan described her horse as “the most perfect saint ever, I'm sure he knows I can't see and he does all the seeing for me.”
Supported by her mum via a headset during her test, Jordan said: “she says turn, straight, so I know roughly where I am going to go and she basically stops me from crashing into things most of the time!”
