Coaches Selected for the New National Development Programme for Coaching Excellence 2016/17

British Showjumping is delighted to announce the selected coaches for the new National Development Programme for Coaching Excellence 2016/17. The National Development Programme for Coaching Excellence is aimed at coaches working with adult and young people who participate in equestrian sport for competitive recreation purposes. The twelve month programme, part funded by the BEF and Sport England, is being delivered across the Olympic Disciplines British Showjumping, British Dressage and British Eventing.
The coaches joining this programme have been selected for being ambitious, having a want to improve their own performance and already having success in getting more people participating and training in equestrian sport by creating enjoyable coaching environments. British Showjumping is delighted to announce our seven successful Coaches as:

- Jo Burns-Firth
- Mia Palles-Clark
- Barbara Anderson
- Christine Shubrook
- Sarah Tubbs
- Nadine Warwick
The first part of the programme is a two day workshop taking place at Solihull Riding Club offering the coaches a variety of learning opportunities including:
- Input from a highly regarded ‘participation’ coach from another sport
- Use of video apps to support learning and planning coaching programmes
- Motivation and positive behaviour change - role of the coach in the grassroots environment
- Building self-awareness in the coach; self-reflection and 360 review, video and analysis of own coaching developing personal values and philosophy relevant to the grass roots environment
- What is coaching excellence theory to practice
- Managing parents/entourage/groups
- Differences of coaching skills required for child and adult environments
- Course building and understanding the use of fences to support development (showjumping and eventing specific) environment
- Practical coaching sessions with mentor coaches looking at developing individuals and effective group management (involvement of a team based, high performing coach or outstanding teacher)
- Bespoke discipline specific practical sessions
