Danielle Farnsworth lands victory in the UNIBED – High Performance Equine Bedding Winter B and C qualifier at Onley Grounds with Kwis

Danielle Farnsworth claimed victory from the front in the UNIBED - Performance Equine Bedding Winter B and C qualifier at Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex in Rugby, Warwickshire, riding a quiet, unhurried round on Kwis that proved sufficient for the top spot.

“She’s lovely, she can be a bit spooky at first but I’m so very lucky to have her,” said Danielle, who spotted Kwis with Jake Saywell 18 months ago – “My amazing long-term owners Judy and Dougie Bryce bought her.”

Course-designer Mark McGowan set an 11-fence 1.35m track for the original 26 starters, with only five conjuring up all the correct answers to access the jump-off and chase the two prestigious qualifying places for the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead.

“Mark built a strong track.  I was 14th to go and the first clear and a few after me faulted too, for a minute I though I may win with the only clear,” said Danielle.

First up Danielle kept her cool to post a seemingly easy but nonetheless effective round with Kwis.  She remained ahead despite a strong challenge from Thomas Pritchard on Cevann IV, who beat the time but at the expense of a rail on the floor.  Megan Broadway came the closest, opting for accuracy on nine-year-old Diatender TW (Nintender x Diarado) to take the second qualifying spot.

“I was first to go, had my plan and stuck to it, played it safe but I was fast enough,” said Danielle, who lives close to Warwickshire’s Dallas Burston Polo Club in the village of Ufton.

The Entertainer x Cento nine-year-old mare contended the HOYS Talentseekers in 2022 with Danielle.  They showed their form early at Onley Grounds with second place in the 1.35m but saved the best until last.

“She was spooky in the 1.35m but a few more rounds did her the world of good and we got it right in the class I’d aimed her for all show,” added Danielle.
