The STX-UK Pony British Novice Second Round at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre played host to 24 young riders and their ponies.
Of the starting 24, seven competitors made it clear through course designer Peter Gillespie’s first two rounds to reach the final jump-off.
Holly West emerged victorious, with Marion West’s 8-year-old, Clashroe Lad. The pair completed their final round clear in a time of 33.10 seconds, not only securing the fastest time of the jump-off but also finishing as the only rider to jump triple clear.
Last to go in the jump-off was Josephine Pritchard riding Lizzie K. Despite a commendable effort, Josephine’s hopes for victory were dashed when she knocked the third fence, going on to finish the course in 35.25 seconds. While the win was out of reach, Josephine secured a respectable second place and qualified for the final at the British Showjumping National Championship.
There are two more chances for ponies and riders to qualify for the STX-UK Pony British Novice Final, which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships next month.
