Jenna Watson & Katie Shaw Win Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Allens Hill

Seventy-five hopeful combinations turned out for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Allens Hill in Pershore, Worcestershire last Sunday and they came forward with one goal – to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between 18th – 22nd November.
Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round
From the initial starting field of forty-four, twenty-two combinations progressed through to the jump off and fifteen went on to produce a double clear, which meant that the allocation of the twelve qualification places was to come down to the times clocked up by each combination.
Jenna Watson from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire scooped the top spot on board Sandra Watson’s 16 year-old bay gelding DJ Texas after producing the fastest double clear of the class. Their second immaculate round was produced in 35.95 seconds which eventually proved to be three seconds faster than the combination who finished in second.
Katie Shaw from Great Haywood, Staffordshire with Janette Davidson’s 6 year-old bay mare Cyloma Z finished in second after they crossed the finish line with all fences still standing in 38.95 seconds.
Third place was taken by Emily Morris from Prees, Shropshire on her own 10 year-old chestnut gelding Ultimatum II. They produced their double clear in 38.97 to secure their place in the line-up.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round
Twenty out of thirty-one combinations made it as far as the jump off and it proved to be competitive with eleven double clears being delivered.
Katie Shaw added a win in this class to her top two placing in the 1.05m second round. Riding Fools Business, a 14 year-old roan gelding owned by Emma Sargeant, Katie steered her mount with expert guidance to achieve two clear rounds in just 34.86 seconds.
Sophie Edenborough from Shrewsbury, Shropshire took second place with her own 8 year-old bay mare Quick Liberty. A double clear in 38.84 seconds proved quick enough for a place inside the top two.
Theresa Anderson from Credenhill, Hereford finished up in third with her own 10 year-old bay mare Kashmir VS after they delivered their double clear in 39.82 seconds.
