Jordan Thompson Wins the Events Through a Lens Talent Seekers, incorporating the Seven-Year-Old Championship
Thursday 10 October 2024
Scottish rider Jordan Thompson reflected on "a big day" for him after he completed a stylish victory in the Events Through a Lens Talent Seekers, incorporating the seven-year-old championship.
It concluded a busy opening day of the 75th anniversary Horse of the Year Show at the NEC Birmingham as Jordan triumphed in both elements - overall winner and best seven-year-old horse.
His long journey from Renfrewshire became a double success story after just six combinations from 29 starters made the jump-off.
The Talent Seekers is a highly-anticipated competition with more than an eye on the future, and there can be no doubt that Jordan's partnership with stallion Double De Muze T.L is one to watch.
"It is my first time here, and I am so happy for the owners and everyone involved with the horse," he said.
"He is an exceptional horse that will keep progressing up the heights and keep coming on.
"I have been trying to come here for several years, but I have always been unlucky and missed out, so this was a big day for me."
A testing course caught combinations out at a number of different places, and 10 riders were left to dealt with a frustrating one fence down.
In the end, victory was by almost two seconds over David Harland and Murchacko Quatro as they clocked 34.70 for second, with Jonathan Dixon and Jack JL taking third.
