Noora von Bülow 2nd in CSIOCh Grand Prix, Wierden

The Children’s squad representing Great Britain, under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF, got underway to a good start at the Dutch Youngster Festival at Wierden in The Netherlands earlier today when 12 year-old Noora von Bülow took 2nd in the CSIOCh Grand Prix.

It was an initial field of forty one starters that came forward with fifteen of them jumping clear in the first round to qualify for the jump off.  For London based Noora, who came forward mid-field, it was a tremendous performance that she put in with the ground-covering 12 year-old grey mare Dabelle owned by Sharifa Al-Homaizi to take an early lead putting pressure on those to come behind her.

Pressing forward from the off it was clear their time was always going to be fast, but with some solid turns added to this and no penalties to add it was enough to see them edge  ahead of those who had set the standard before them and set the time to beat of 30.02 seconds.  The only person that managed to catch them was Seppe Wouters (BEL) who took the eventual win with the 3rd and 4th positions being settled by a mere fraction of a second between them such was the strength of the competition.

The Children’s Squad, aged 14 and under, are accompanied by the Pony, Junior and Young Rider Squads who also contested their respective Grand Prix competitions this afternoon.  Tomorrow the Junior and Young Rider Nations Cup competitions will take place with Sunday playing host to the Children and Pony Nations Cup competitions.

Talking after the competition, British Showjumping’s Youth Team Manager Clare Whitaker said “Noora rode a very good round today.  She was quick but also controlled and watching her across both rounds you can really see how much she has come on during the past year.  We have had a good start to the show and are now focussing on continuing it across the weekend ahead with the four nations cup competitions to come.”
