Please note below the format for selection for teams/individuals to represent Scotland at the Academy Final on 7th – 9th August 2023 this year for the Pony Shows. We are running two shows for qualification purposes due to the Pony Camp being much earlier this year.
Competition Format:
There will be two Academy Pony qualifying competitions in 2023. The first, as in previous years consists of the third day of Camp on Thursday 6th April and the second show on Thursday 6th July at Morris EC. This is to allow Academy members, rider/pony combinations, a chance to qualify if: they did not succeed the first time, if the pony has changed since the first show, if unable to attend the first show, or to gain more points to go towards Team/Individual selection. Points will be awarded from 1st place - 10 points to 1 point, 0 points awarded for eliminations.
No pony substitutions for the final unless a current pony/rider record can be supplied at the relevant height.
Please note for final: Riders can only compete once in a team, but may compete a different pony in another team at the same height. Ponies may only compete once in any (Team/Individual) competition.
Both days will consist of warm-up classes followed by the qualifying competitions for the final at Stoneleigh. The result of the team(s) to represent Scotland at the final will be decided on the results after both competitions.
The Team members will be selected as follows: each Team will be made up of three riders from the Pony Academy Camp attendees and the fourth place to either a Camp attendee or an external Pony Academy competitor who has taken part only in the last day’s competition depending on the results.
- Double clears will be guaranteed a space in the Final
- Highest placed points from each show will be selected into Teams working down the line
- Team & Individual selection will be from combined scores from both Academy Camp Shows.
Riders will be required to participate in all camp activities in order to be classed as a full attending camp rider.
Riders conduct at camp will also be taken into consideration.
Please note: Teams will not be announced on the show days.
