Children finish 4th at Peelbergen FEI Youth Nations Cup Final

The Children squad, competing under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF, finished 4th in their respective Nations Cup Final competition today at Peelbergen, in Kronenberg, The Netherlands with less than half a second keeping them from the 3rd position spot. The event which commenced on Thursday has run across four days between 23 – 26 September at the Equestrian Centre de Peelbergen with Great Britain fielding both a Children and Ponies team.
It was Belgium that took the win with a 4 penalty overall finish whilst Sweden sat a single time penalty behind them in 2nd position. Home nation The Netherlands finished three penalties behind them to take 3rd with their 8 penalty score and a cumulative time of 240.31 seconds.
For Great Britain, it was a case of being nudged into 4th place in the line up when matching The Netherlands on 8 penalties they were relegated to a position behind them due to their cumulative score being a 300th of a second slower. It was Spain that took 5th on 12 penalties whilst Italy finished in 6th having lowered an additional fence to finish on a score of 16.
The Children’s team were led by Noora von Bülow who took the role of pathfinder. Producing one of the few double clears of the competition and the sole double clear for Great Britain she set a foot-perfect standard for other to follow. Noora also impressed when she took the well-deserved win in the Grand Prix on Friday to claim the title as her own.
The other three team riders this afternoon were Madison Seedhouse, aged 14 years from Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire, with the 9 year-old mare Emara Giguellerie Z owned by ESM Equestrian along with Eve McCoy, aged 13 years from Hungerford in Berkshire, with the 13 year-old bay gelding Non-Stop owned by Tony McCoy. The anchor for the team came in the form of Ruby Ward, aged 14 years from Neston in Cheshire, with the 10 year-old chestnut mare Giddy Up Tango owned by Michael Whitaker.

The Pony Nations Cup Final had taken place earlier in the day with Ireland taking the win having finished with a clean sheet and zero penalties accrued. Germany took 2nd with a single fence having been lowered whilst France sat a fence behind them in 3rd place. France and Denmark both finished on 12 penalties each and it was literally just a 100th of a second that settled their final placings in the line up when the cumulative score were take into the equation. Great Britain and the team of Poppy Deakin, Henry Squibb, Phoebe Farman and Sophie Evans sat behind them in 6th place. Full results here
